Be Cool and Win a Bike Too!

Birthday Camping and being sick

We went to the Hamma Hamma River to camp for my birthday. It was a ton of fun, except for the fact that I was and still am sick. Izzie was kind enough to give me her cold, so here I sit, miserable and feeling like crap. I've been riding my bike, but haven't done any running for the last week.

We hiked up to Lena Lake, a pretty easy 3 mile trek to a beautiful Lake. Jeff's 74 year old grandma even went on the hike. She's awesome, I hope I'm that active when I'm in my 70's.

Chuckanut Foot Race

I don't have much time to write now....

The footrace was yesterday, it went really well. I made one of my two goals, so that's cool. I beat my time from last year by 11 minutes.

By my time I ran the 7.1 miles in 73 minutes, which is a 10.5 minute mile. Still a lot of room for improvement, but I'm happy that I did it and will do better next year.

Throwing up and the YMCA

At least the title isn't throwing up at the YMCA!

The plan was simple, ride to work, meet Suzanne at the YMCA to go to a Strength & Conditioning class, ride someone and go for a run.

However, at about 4pm I realized I hadn't drank any water all day. This is very rare for me. I could feel the headache coming on. I tried to counteract it by drinking a lot of water, but it was no use. I get headaches when I don't drink enough water, I know this, but somehow I forgot.
I met Suzanne at the YMCA, did the class, (which was awesome by the way) but I felt nauseous towards the end. I ended up puking later that night, at least it was in a bathroom, not in the class.

I'm feeling better today, but don't think I'll go for a run. Maybe tomorrow.....

North Lake Whatcom Trail, Part Two

I ran the North Lake Whatcom Trail again yesterday (July 6th), this time I was with my friend Suzanne. We were going to run on the Interurban Trial, but choose to run the North Lake Whatcom Trail since she's never been there before. We ran about 5.75 miles in a little over an hour. My watch was acting weird again so I don't have an exact time....

Today I am not running, I rode with Izabelle to Summer Camp, then to work, stopped by a friends house after work and rode home. It was a total of about 12 miles in the beautiful sun! The weather is SO nice today, the sun is shining in all it's beauty and Bellinghamsters are happy and smiling. I saw quite a few bicyclists today, it was great! Everyone is riding and smiling and having a great time. We live is such an amazing place.

North Lake Whatcom Trail

Yesterday (July 4th), I ran the North Lake Whatcom trail. It was my first time running it, although I did ride my bike on it a couple weeks ago. Last time I was at this trail there were a lot of trees and brush covering the trail at about mile marker 2.5. I'm happy to report that the fallen trees have been cleared and you can now run, bike or walk to the end of the trail.

I started running a bit before mile marker .5, ran to mm 3, and back to mm .5,
hubby and daughter rode their bikes and fished while I ran. I was hoping to see their bikes and I ran back, but did not. So I walked to the car, they weren't there, so I walked back up the trail almost 1 mile and finally found them.

All in all, I ran 5.25 miles and walked about 2.5. My running time was approximately 53 minutes for the 5.25 miles, a little over 10 minute miles, a lot of room for improvement, but I;m still happy with the time.

Since I'm kind of training for a half marathon and definitely going to do the Chuckanut Foot Race on July 12, I've been trying to run more often. My problem is that it's really hard for me to find time to fit running into my schedule. I ride my bike to work, and for work, so I get a lot of exercise that way, but I've found it difficult to try and add running into the mix.

I am excited to say that I ran three times in the last week!!

This may not be revolutionary for many people, but I guarantee it's amazing for me.
